School: Don Bosco Prep School
Location: Crown Point, IN
Established: 2012
Director: Dave Maravilla
Don Bosco Prep School in Crown Point, Indiana, is quickly becoming one of the premier institutions for aspiring basketball players looking to elevate their skills and receive exposure at the next level. Founded in 2012 by Dave Maravilla, the program has rapidly gained recognition for its commitment to developing talent and helping athletes reach their full potential.
Under the leadership of Maravilla, who has a background as a sports agent representing European players, the program has achieved remarkable success. Over the years, 106 players have earned college basketball scholarships, with 51 of them securing spots at Division I programs. This achievement underscores the program’s dedication to player development and its nearly 96% college placement rate.
A Vision for Excellence
Maravilla’s guiding philosophy is simple but powerful: “We’ll help the players much more than they’ll help us.” This mindset permeates the culture at Don Bosco Prep, where the focus is not just on winning games, but on fostering the growth of athletes both on and off the court. The program is designed to equip players with the tools, resources, and guidance they need to succeed at the highest level, whether in college basketball or beyond.
State-of-the-Art Facilities
In April 2025, Don Bosco Prep opened its state-of-the-art training facility, a cutting-edge space that is a game-changer for athletes. The facility is equipped with top-tier equipment, including the PROTEUS, OXEFIT XS1, and REFLEXION Neuro training system, offering a comprehensive strength and conditioning program. Players have access to this advanced equipment and training from 6 AM to 9 PM, giving them the flexibility to work on their skills at their own pace.
Director Maravilla is clear in his expectations: “There’s no excuse not to get better!” With these resources available to athletes throughout the day, the program’s commitment to player development is more evident than ever.
Cost of Attendance
While Don Bosco Prep provides unmatched training and exposure, it comes at a cost. The tuition for attending the school is approximately $19,000, with additional expenses for off-campus apartments and meal plans. For those serious about advancing their basketball careers, however, the investment is seen as a small price to pay for the opportunity to train at such a high level.
Adapting to the Evolving Landscape of College Basketball
As the landscape of college basketball rapidly changes, Don Bosco Prep is poised to stay ahead of the curve. Coach Quincy Jones, of Coach Q’s Scouting and Evaluations, recently highlighted the shift in college recruitment, noting, “We spoke with multiple D1 coaches this week who said they weren’t recruiting HS seniors. We’ll be looking at the Portal, Juco, and Prep schools primarily.” This evolving environment makes prep schools like Don Bosco Prep an increasingly attractive option for players seeking exposure and opportunities in the world of college basketball.
With the introduction of new payment structures and the rising prominence of alternative pathways to college basketball, Don Bosco Prep’s focus on elite training and player development positions it as a prime destination for athletes looking to maximize their potential.
